Blog Challenge Day 10

What is your daily routine?
Routines, they are nice in theory but never seem to stick. Working overnights has made it very difficult to have a routine. When I get home from work some days I am so tired I crash right away, other days I am wide awake for a few hours. I wish I had a routine and that each day was about the same as the one before but that isn’t the case. When I am tired I get VERY grumpy. A grumpy teacher makes for a whiny student and in turn means little is accomplished. We have to work around my sleep needs. We try to have a basic schedule. Here is my attempted routine. Sometimes doing virtual school feels like a second job, but I wouldn’t ever send her back to “regular” school.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday
7:30 I get home from work, make breakfast and check Facebook.
8:30 I try to get some sleep, some days we do school work and I sleep later.
2:00 I wake up and start dinner, or at least start to think about dinner.
2:00 – 7:00 Do school work, house work, or laundry. So much to do and so very little time.
7:00 -8:00 We eat dinner, pack my lunch for work, and clean up. Some times we add school work or games.
8:00 – 9:15 I get ready and leave for work . My little one is usually still awake when I leave, unless we have an early morning the next day.
7:30 I get home from work and try to go right to sleep.
11:30 I get my little one ready for gymnastics and make sure I am presentable.
12:30 We go to grandma’s and take care of her bills, mail, shopping and anything else she needs.
3:00 I take my little one to gymnastics and try to sleep in the car. It works as long as it isn’t too hot out.
6:00 We leave the gym.
6:45 We are finally home from gymnastics and I make dinner if we didn’t grab something on the way home.
8:00 – 9:15 Get ready and leave for work. I watch as much of Dance Moms as I can before I have to leave.
Thursdays and Fridays are my days off so they change weekly. The one constant is every Thursday my little one has gymnastics and we take care of my grandma.
My schedule can get quite hectic, but I try to make it work. Do you have a daily routine or do you just wing in?

31 Day Blog Challenge Day 9

What’s on your bucket list?

I think this is the hardest question so far. My dream has always been to go to Disney World, and I got to live that dream last year. It was an amazing two weeks. Right now I don’t really have a bucket list. I am still young and have a long time to figure out my dreams. My short term dreams would be to visit all of the states in America. Currently I have been to California (where I live) Nevada, and Florida. I went to Arizona as a baby and while on the flight to Florida we stopped in Texas and Louisiana, but I don’t count those. I would love to see more of the country. I figure I will just live for today and make each day count. What is on your bucket list?

31 Day Blog Challenge Day 8
What is your biggest pet peeve?
To understand the answer to this question I have to give you a little background information. I am over weight and have been most of my life, but that doesn’t mean I am lazy. I was hurt at work three years ago and prior to that I would run around the store 8 hours a day, pull pallets, unload trucks, push carts, and lift heavy items. I gave my all and was by no means lazy. When we went to Disneyland I would walk all day from 8am until midnight and not get tired. I was fat but I was active. Well for the past three years I have been on crutches or in a cast most of the time. I have gained more weight. I am close to 300 pounds. I am not able to walk for any length of time without a cane and I use an electric cart when I shop and at work. I would love to walk “normally” but right now that is not possible.
The other night I was working in the Electronics department. I was stocking small merchandise while using an electric cart. (My Dr. orders state I have to sit 100% while at work.) I was just doing my job  and this rude customer says, “So what do you have to do to get that job, just be fat and lazy? This happens a lot and really bugs me. I get comments while shopping that maybe I should walk and not be so lazy. I wear a brace but most of the time my pants cover it so on the outside I look fine.  Normally I don’t say anything but this time I was beyond angry so I replied, “No, you have to get hurt AT WORK, have your foot not get fixed correctly, have 2 surgeries and still not be able to walk to get this job.”  So my biggest pet peeve is when people judge me because of my weight and think I am just lazy. I am not a lazy person and wish people would think before they speak.

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 1 – 7

I have been reading a lot of blogs lately and came across a 31 day blog challenge. There will be a new question every day during the month of March. It seems like a lot of fun and while I need to catch up on a few days, I think I can do it. So here are days 1 – 7.

Day 1
Self portrait and five random facts about yourself
  1. I love to take pictures, but hate having my picture taken. Now that I’m the one behind the camera, photos of me are hard to come by.
  2. I have 3 dogs. Lucky is a border collie, Buddy is a boxer lab mix, and Sadie is a hound lab mix. It started out with one dog and now it’s three, good thing that is the limit for where we live.
  3. I am a horrible speller, so bad that I spellcheck my comments before I post on facebook. I am great at math so I guess being bad at spelling is okay.
  4. I love Disneyland and I am a Disney Vacation Club member. Disneyland is my favorite place to be. Living in Southern California I use to go there quite regularly. Now that I have my leg injury I haven’t been in a while and I miss it.
  5. I wore braces in middle and high school. It is hard to believe but my mouth was too small and they had to stretch out the roof of my mouth. Yeah it was as painful as it sounds.

The portrait will be posted in a few days.

Day 2
 What are your favorite quotes?

These would have to be my favorite quotes:

  • “If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together, there is something you must always remember. Promise me you’ll remember; you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.” – Winnie the Pooh

I have always liked that quote, I think it shows true friendship.

  • “A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down – Mary Poppins

I have always liked the part in the movie where Mary Poppins sings that song. I still use the phrase with my little one.

  • “Always let your conscience be your guide.” – Pinocchio

Pinocchio was never my favorite movie, but I love that little Cricket.

  • “If you can dream it, you can do it.” – Walt Disney

I admire Walt Disney and love many of his quotes, but I think this is my favorite one.

Day 3
What makes you happy?

I would have to say being with my family makes me happy. I consider my mom one of my closest friends and love the time we spend together. My little one makes me happy. I love to see her happy and learning new things. I am also happy spending time with my friend. I love cool rainy days snuggling on the couch. The simple things in life make me happy.

Day 4
What is your best childhood memory?

Wow, this is a hard one. I have so many great memories from my childhood. I was very lucky and had a great childhood. I would have to say I loved the time we spent at the ranch when I was little. We would go most of the time when we were off track and we had a ball. I rode horses, helped in the barn, went fishing, swimming, and camping. We had s’mores around the camp fire and had a wonderful time. We could explore, be kids, and just have fun.

Another great memory I have is going to Missionettes camp when I was a kid. It was a week of fun, learning, bible study, prayer, making friends, and kind of grouse food. We would make fun of the eggs they served every year. If you could call them eggs, they were always slimy and soft and no one at our table would ever eat them. I think I went to camp 5 years as a camper and 1 as a councilor in training and I loved them all. I feel I grew closer to God while at camp and that it helped me growing up.

There are a lot more great memories, but I think those would have to top my list.

Day 5
What are favorite movies that you never get sick of watching?

I really enjoy watching older movies. Sure I like a lot of movies that have come out recently, but most of them, once I watch them once it’s enough for me. So here are my top 5 movies I could watch over and over again.

  1.  It takes two – with Mary – Kate and Ashley Olsen
  2. Yours Mine and Ours – the older version
  3. The Trouble with Angles
  4. The Parent Trap – I like both versions but the older one is my favorite
  5. Sister Act

I like good family friendly movies. I have never seen a horror movie and don’t intend to. I like comedy and dramas, but honestly I like the old classics the best.

Day 6
What was your last random act of kindness?

I try to do my best to live my life right and do the right thing. This question made me think though that maybe I need to do a little bit more. I think the last random act of kindness I did was a few days ago when I gave a doughnut to a man that had seen better times. He was standing outside the donut shop and I just felt it was the right thing to do. I don’t think it was that big of a deal but hopefully it made his day a bit better.

Day 7
What’s your dream job?

I use to say my dream job was to be a teacher, now that I home school I get to live that dream a little each day. Other than a teacher my other dream job was to work at Disneyland. Anywhere at Disneyland, but now I don’t want that. It may sound stupid, but I want the magic to be there and I feel knowing all of the behind the scenes stuff might ruin the magic or take the love away from it.

So as crazy as it sounds I would love to have an in home day care. I would love to teach young kids and see the world through their eyes. To help working parents know that a good person was taking care of their kids. That, as simple as it sounds would be my dream job.

I know that was a long post and thanks for reading it. I am going to try and post daily for the rest of the month and complete the 31 day blog challenge. I am linking up with Fabulous Finds by Tiffany for her 31 Day Blog Challenge.

I have a theory that the reason America is fat is due to convenience. Think about it, we have drive throughs, premade food, boxed and canned food available to us at cheep prices. You can get a pizza for $5 or a taco for $.49. Not being able to grab these convenience foods has put me in the kitchen a lot longer and cost a bit more money, but I think with time and planning better it will get easier. Today I made scalloped potatoes, broccoli, and London broil. The scalloped potatoes came from the Betty Crocker cookbook and everyone loved them. I had planned on having some left over for tomorrow, but I will have to make something else. It took me about an hour to wash, peal, and slice the potatoes, about twenty min to make the sauce and then about two hours o cook. The London broil was quick. I put it on a cookie sheet, poked it with a fork, salted it and then put it under the broiler for 5 min on each side. I steamed the broccoli in about ten min, and called it dinner. The potatoes tasted better than any boxed potato I have ever had and I know they had NO corn which was the best part.

About Me

Hi, and welcome to my blog! First I wanted to tell a little information about myself. I live in Southern California and have all of my life. I have worked in retail for the past 8 years. I was injured at work and have been off and on for the past two years. I recently found out that I am intolerant to corn. Yes you read that right corn. I didn’t even know that was something you could be allergic to, but it is. I am learning and adjusting but it will all work out.
I am twenty six and with the help of my mom I am raising my eight year old cousin. She is amazing. I started to virtual school her this school year through CAVA (California Virtual Academy). Basically I teach her the online curriculum and we learn at home. She still has a teacher that is available to help, and we still do state testing and turn in work samples four times a year. She has learned a lot this year and I don’t foresee her ever going to a “regular” school again. She loves gymnastics and has been doing it since she was two years old. She goes two to three times a week and absolutely loves it. My favorite place to go is Disneyland. Before I got hurt I would go at least twice a month. Sadly that isn’t happening right now as I can’t walk, but maybe soon. So there is a little about me. I don’t know how this blog will go or what I will talk about but I sure have a lot to say.
