Pre-Order Sale Asia its People and History

AJ and I have been working on a review for an amazing product called, Asia its People and History written by Bonnie Hudson. It is geared for kids ages 8-12 and teaches a brief history of a few Asian countries including:

  • Laos
  • Bangladesh
  • Nepal
  • China
  • Iran
  • Vietnam
From the website:

Is the land of Asia a mystery to your kids? Do they know who lives there? Do they know how to pray for them? Asia is home to more than fifty countries and territories and roughly three-fifths of the world’s population. Could you use some help introducing your family to this vast land? This sixteen-week course presents a brief picture of six nations. It is by no means all encompassing. Its purpose is to introduce your students to the people of Asia, share their stories, and spark curiosity.

We have been having a lot of fun learning about different countries. The book is not yet available but will be soon, you can pre-order the book now for only $4.95. Look for a full review of the book (We really like it) next week. Don’t forget there is a great giveaway going on for over $300 worth of products including a copy of Asia its People and History. Blog Challenge Day 18

Where are you the happiest?
This is the best picture of the castle that I have ever taken.
This was a very easy question. I am the happiest when I am at Disneyland. It doesn’t matter if I am there for the rides, to shop, to trade pins, or just to people watch. Walking into the front gates helps me to forget my problems and just be a kid again. It instantly puts a smile on my face. I don’t think there is any place that makes me as happy as when I am at Disneyland. I need a Disney trip!

Day 17 – Blog Challenge

When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging about a year ago. Before that I had seen some amazing blogs that were done by home school moms. They had all kinds of information and ideas and I really enjoyed reading them. I had never even thought about blogging and then one day after reading so many great posts I decided to give it a try. I didn’t have a plan for my blog in the beginning and didn’t have to many ideas on what to say. I talked about my corn allergy, my little one’s gymnastics, and our adventures doing a virtual school. I didn’t post very often but still liked the idea of the blog. I also used it as a way to share pictures of my little one with friends and family. Then one of the facebook groups that I am in told me about the Mosaic Review Crew. So I applied to be on the review team but didn’t think that I would be picked because I was such a sporadic blogger. Well I was picked and decided to make blogging a higher priority. I have been given a lot of neat items to review and have had a lot of fun. I am still finding my voice but really enjoy blogging. So that is why I blog. I am linking up with Tiffany for the 31 day blog challenge.

Blog Challenge day 16

Yay I am finally back on track and posting on the day the post is suppose to be posted. Life has been a little hectic around here ( more on that in a later post) but I have managed to post for every challenge so far.  So here is today’s question.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

I am sure that most people will say having their kids, getting married, buying a house, finally getting their dream job, or something along those lines. Well I haven’t done any of those things. My biggest accomplishment is something that is big to me but other people might not see it the same way.

My biggest accomplishment was being crowned an Honor Star through Missionettes. I know most people will have no idea what that is so let me explain.

Missionettes is a program for girls that is part of the Women’s Ministries of the Assemblies of God. The STARs are (well things have changed now but at the time this is how things were) girls in fourth through eighth grade. Each year a step to the stairway of stars can be completed. Susanna teaches about being a faithful steward of time money and talent. Tabathia teaches to minister to others.  Anna teaches to abide in Christ through prayer and Bible study and Ruth teaches about witnessing. Throughout the program you read the entire Bible, memorize countless memory verses along with the Assembly of God statement of faith and the books of the bible. You read and learn about missionaries and baptism. There were also reports to write and service projects to complete along with badges that focused on things such as first aid, citizenship, swimming and sewing. Every year there is a test given by the women of the church to make sure you still remembered the things that were learned. After all of the requirements are met, all of your written work that has been approved by your leaders is then sent to a district office to be looked over before you can be crowned. I worked very hard and completed the program in three years. Not many people finished the entire program.

The crowning is a very big deal. You wear a floor length white gown and walk down the aisle of the church accompanied by your pastor. All of your leaders are a part of the ceremony and you are given a cape and a crown. All of my friends and family attended the event.

I feel that was my greatest accomplishment. It was a lot of hard work, but I feel the things I learned have stayed with me in my every day life.

The program changed the year after I was crowned and that is why I had to finish early. The program was made a little easier because so many people were unable to finish it. I am very proud that I stuck with it and finished it. So what is your greatest accomplishment?

Blog Challenge Day 15

List 10 things that make you awesome?

I found this to be a hard post to write. I tend to think negatively about myself, but I think I came up with a good list.

I am awesome because….

  1. I take good care of my mom and have been a great daughter
  2. I give up my days off to take care of my grandmother.
  3. I am a terrific teacher for my little one.
  4. I am a amazing friend and am always there when you need a shoulder to cry on.
  5. I am nice and friendly with almost everyone.
  6. I try to look for the positives in seemingly bad situations.
  7. I think I have a good personality.
  8. I am a good cook.
  9. I have never tried drugs or smoked and I don’t drink.
  10. I am a giving person.

So what do you think of the list? What makes you awesome?

Blog Challenge Day 14

What’s on your I pod?
Ummmm, I don’t have an I pod. I don’t have a MP3 player or even a CD player. I don’t listen to music unless I am in the car and even then I don’t listen to it most of the time. It is not that I don’t like music, but I have never liked the idea of just listening to music. When I was in school I needed quiet to study so I never listened to music. If it is on I usually enjoy most types of music as long as I can understand the words and it is not full of cursing. You won’t usually find music on at our house unless it is Christmas time. I love Christmas music and could listen to it all year. In fact that is what I have been listening to on the way to work since November. So what do you like to listen to?

Blog Challenge Day 13

Do you have any regrets?
So many times we fall into a should of, could of, would of frame of thought. The if I knew then what I know now attitude is a hard thing not to have on your mind when you feel you life is less than perfect. I believe everything happens for a reason. Sometimes I wonder what reason on earth there would be for some of the situations that I am faced with, but I know there has to be a reason.
This is a post that I have seen on facebook that to me really drives the point home. At the time that I am writing this blog the post has been shared over 500 times so I don’t know who originally wrote it.
Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Sure

Me: Promise You won’t get mad

God: I promise

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?

God: What do u mean?
Me: Well, I woke up late

God: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start

God: Okay
Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait

God: Huummm

Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call

God: All right
Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn’t work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that
Me (humbled): OH
GOD: I didn’t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.
Me: (ashamed)

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn’t want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn’t afford to miss work.
Me (embarrassed):Okay
God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn’t even let you talk to them so you would be covered.
Me (softly): I see God

God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn’t think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I’m Sorry God

God: Don’t be sorry, just learn to Trust Me…. in All things , the Good & the bad.
Me: I will trust You.

God: And don’t doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.
Me: I won’t God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.

God: You’re welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children…

I believe that God has a plan for my life and even if I don’t exactly know what it is, He does. The past can’t be changed so even though I have those thoughts and wishes that I could change things, I have to live for today and take life one step at a time. I have to work on making decisions and doing actions on a daily basis that won’t cause me to regret things in the future. In short, I do have regrets but choose not to harp on them and choose to live for today.

Blog Challenge Day 12

What is something you miss?
What do I miss? I miss a lot of things. I mainly miss my life before I was hurt. I miss being able to work with out restrictions. Before I was hurt at work I loved going to work, I would run all over and although I would be tired I felt successful. Right now I don’t feel the same way at work.
I also miss being able to walk. I never use to have to think about going some wear or doing something. Now I have to think, is the place I want to go going to have a wheel chair or be accessible? Can someone drive me or will my foot be ok to drive? Will I be in too much pain?
I miss being able to clean the house and do dishes without having to sit down a million times in between.
I miss being able to run and play in the park with my little one. I miss going to the beach and walking on the sand.
I miss working days instead of overnights. The good times when I didn’t feel like a zombie during the day and I could sleep at night.
I miss the time before my corn allergy. Oh how I miss corn dogs and Mc Donald’s french fries. I miss being able to eat pudding and jelly and chips. (not at the same time) I miss being able to order a soda or milkshake. I miss not having to worry that I can get sick if I eat something new.
I miss our frequent trips to Disneyland to trade pins and ride the rides. Being able to spend a wonderful day at the happiest place on earth really can’t be topped.
Ok, this post sounds a little depressing but it is the things in life that I miss. Those were the good old days.

Blog Challenge Day 11
What is the last book you read?

I use to read all of the time, but honestly I hadn’t read a normal book for a while. (One that was not used for teaching my little one) That all changed after The Hunger Games came out on DVD. It was playing in the electronic department at work and I kept seeing little bits and pieces of the movie. I didn’t understand what the movie was about and would say it is still hard to explain. I had thought it was just a bunch of violence and killing but that was not the case. So after seeing a few different parts of the movie I decided to buy the book. I ended up reading it in two days and did not want to put it down. After I finished the book I watched the movie. Movies are never as good as the books in my opinion, but I did enjoy the movie. Then I bought and read the next two books. I couldn’t put them down and each page was a new clue. I loved the entire series and am now a fan of The Hunger Games. In fact my friend and I already have plans to see the second movie when it comes out. Technically the last book I read was The Mocking Jay, but I read all three books in less than a week. I need to find my next good book.
